The heads of state of Burkina Faso and Niger reaffirmed to President Assimi Goïta of Mali their determination to combat terrorism, through a delegation sent following the attack on the Malian Armed Forces (FAMa). This delegation of the Confederation Alliance of Sahel States (AES) was received in audience, on Thursday in Koulouba, by the head of state of Mali, Colonel Assimi Goïta.

Composed in particular of the Minister of State, Minister of National Defense of Niger, General Salifou Mody and the Minister of State, Minister of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism, Spokesperson of the Burkinabe government, Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo, the delegation of the AES Confederation came to present its condolences and express its compassion to the Malian people and the Malian authorities following the terrorist attack against the Malian Armed Forces (FAMa) in Tinzawatène last week. “We were specially dispatched by the heads of state of Niger, General Abdourahamane Tiani and of Burkina Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traoré,” declared General Salifou Mody. He continued that the objective is to affirm once again their support for the brotherly people of Mali but above all to reaffirm their solidarity, their commitment and resolution to fight terrorism in all its forms.

For his part, the Minister of State for Communication of Faso, Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo, indicated that the meeting was an opportunity, once again, to display their solidarity and especially their unity. According to Rimtalba Ouédraogo, within the framework of the Confederation, the AES space comprises three peoples but one and the same destiny. “So the fight is the same in Burkina as in Mali and Niger,” he declared. Adding that they truly emerged enriched from the discussions they had with President Goïta. The meeting was also an opportunity to strengthen their common and firm determination to face all adversities and terrorists. Not to mention their sponsors and all those who, today, lurking in the shadows, pull the strings to advance their interests in our States. “We are leaving with reassuring messages, especially an intact determination that we must therefore transmit to our respective heads of state in Niger and Burkina Faso,” said the Burkinabe minister. This audience was attended by the Minister of State, Minister of Territorial Administration and Decentralization, Spokesperson of the Malian government, Colonel Abdoulaye Maïga.
