The Association Sportive et Union Cheminote de Migennes (ASUCM) will celebrate its 80th anniversary on July 5th. The association held its annual general meeting in the Valmy Hall on Thursday, with President Bernard Esnault highlighting the significant role ASUCM has played over the past eight decades. This anniversary will be celebrated with celebrations on July 5th.
The club has thirteen sports departments. In basketball, Laurent Mallet has taken over the presidency, while Lucille Hasiak serves as treasurer and Armand Noh as secretary. Furthermore, Morgan Baron has taken over as the young and new president of the football department, with Alexander Coll replacing him as secretary. In gymnastics, Christelle Poulain has handed over her role to Christelle Clerc after an impressive twenty-five years. Thierry Lataste was appointed president of the judo department. Esnault praised the commitment of these long-term volunteers, noting that he himself has been president for eighteen years.

The departments rely on grants from the city and income from their events. The total budget amounts to 352,412.76 euros, with a surplus of 7,733.91 euros. Membership numbers for the 2023-2024 season have reached 1,344, a number not seen in the last twenty years. The upcoming 2024-2025 season is expected to start strong, which could be influenced by the Olympic Games and the arrival of the Olympic Flame in Migennes. In terms of sporting success, athletics, handball and pétanque are currently making significant progress.
The activities of the ASUCM are also supported by the administrative support of the Intercommunal Sports Office. In addition, the Communauté de communes de l’agglomération migennoise (CCAM) is responsible for the maintenance of the equipment, buildings and sports fields. Soon several departments will benefit from new facilities, as highlighted by CCAM president François Boucher, including an athletics track, a multifunctional field in Pot-Levé, an expansion of the sports hall, improvements to the heating system in the Mignottes gymnastics hall, as well as the construction of two padel courts in the Lucien Masson Stadium.
