In a surprising turn of events, Orluis Aular from Rural Fund – RGA Insurance emerged as the champion of the CRO Race 2023, despite suffering a severe fall in the final sprint. Despite his injuries, the Venezuelan cyclist managed to cross the finish line and secure the title after the sixth and final stage.

Fortunately for Aular, Norwegian rider Alexander Kristoff (Uno-X Pro Cycling Team) failed to claim the stage victory and was overtaken in the last moments by Australian cyclist Campbell Stewart (Team Jayco AlUla). Kristoff, an experienced sprinter, fell short by a few seconds to dethrone Aular.
