The memory and tributes to the Argentine star multiplied on social networks, where the Professional Football League (LPF) of the South American country published an animated short that reviews his achievements and famous phrases and is accompanied by the message “We miss you, Diego… Thanks to you forever. And, yes, thanks to the ball”.

Who also remembered him was the Argentine soccer team, which shared a video of its former captain and former coach along with the phrases “four years of unprecedented love” and “we will never forget you.”

Maradona was also remembered by numerous players, including his compatriot Lionel Messi, and by different clubs he played for, such as Boca Juniors, Newell’s and Gimnasia y Esgrima of Argentina, Italian Napoli and Spanish Sevilla, in addition to the official accounts of The Spanish League and the FIFA World Cup.

On the other hand, his relatives published a message on the former player’s official account on the social network Instagram, in which they remembered him with love and demanded justice for his death.

His daughter Gianinna Maradona used that same platform to remember her father and sent a harsh message in the face of the trials for his death: “You didn’t die, they killed you. Justice will be done, I swear to you.”

The Argentine Justice plans to begin next March the trial against the team that took care of the former soccer player in his last days, which is being investigated for alleged medical negligence.

The eight accused are the neurosurgeon Leopoldo Luque, the psychiatrist Agustina Cosachov, the psychologist Carlos Díaz, the nurse Ricardo Omar Almirón, the clinical doctor Pedro Di Spagna, the doctor Nancy Forlini, who coordinated the home care of the former soccer player, the nurse coordinator, Mariano Perroni and the nurse Gisella Dahiana Madrid.

The trial against the first seven, postponed on several occasions, will begin on March 11, 2025 and will take place in the Oral Criminal Court No. 3 of San Isidro (province of Buenos Aires).

Madrid, for its part, requested a jury trial that does not yet have a defined start date.

Maradona died on November 25, 2020 as a result of “acute pulmonary edema secondary to exacerbated chronic heart failure,” according to the autopsy, and “dilated cardiomyopathy” was discovered in his heart.

In light of the investigation, the final cause of death would be “cardiorespiratory arrest, secondary to acute lung edema, produced by acute left ventricular failure (acute heart failure), in an agonizing condition of short duration, being estimated in minutes or at most a few hours“.

The world champion in Mexico 1986 suffered from alcohol addiction problems, he had been admitted to a clinic in La Plata – where he was the Gimnasia y Esgrima coach – on November 2, 2020 due to anemia and dehydration and, one day Later, he was transferred to a sanatorium in the Buenos Aires town of Olivos, where he underwent surgery for a subdural hematoma.

On November 11, 2020, he was discharged from the hospital and transferred to a house on the outskirts of Buenos Aires, where he died. EFE
