ARBING. The internal club championships of the Arbinger tennis club were held on Saturday. The finalists gave it their all to win the club championship crown.
In recent weeks, exciting games have been played in both the women’s and men’s competitions, which were always followed by numerous spectators in the stands.
A total of 32 men took part in the championships, who were divided into the A and B competitions after the first round. The men then played exciting games in the knockout mode.
Twelve women were divided into three groups. The three group winners and the best runner-up qualified for the semifinals.
For the first time this year, a beginners’ tournament was launched. Here, tennis newbies have the chance to gain their first match experience and put into practice what they have learned from the training courses.
Victories for Michael Brabenetz and Hermine Leitner
On Saturday, the best players competed against each other in the final. The first match started at 12 noon in high temperatures. The two finalists, Michael Brabenetz and Philipp Fürst, fought a long, exciting duel. In the end, Brabenetz won the final of the men’s B competition by a clear margin of 6:2 and 6:1.
In the women’s final, there was a repeat of the 2023 match for the title of club champion. Mayor Hermine Leitner met Ingrid Steindl. As in the previous year, Leitner won a great game 6:3 and 6:3 against Steindl.
Showdown for club championship title
At 4 p.m. the time had come: a showdown for the men’s club championship title in the A competition. Last year’s winner Martin Kirchhofer met Sebastian Brunner. The two men provided the audience with a tennis match at the highest level and with numerous rallies that amazed them. Brunner had an almost flawless day and defeated the strong reigning club champion Martin Kirchhofer 6:2 and 6:1.

Cozy ending
After the thrilling finals, the season came to a pleasant end with the award ceremony and a barbecue on the terrace at the clubhouse.
