SANTO DOMINGO.- The Dominican Basketball Federation (Fedombal), the seventh edition of the National Women’s Basketball League (LNBF) tournament will begin on September 14, led by the immortal Sports Professor Fernando Teruel, as an option for the Máximo Bernard Cup.
The information was announced during the first work meeting, held this Tuesday at the Fedombal meeting room. This meeting was led by Junior Páez, vice president of the federation, an institution led by engineer Rafael Uribe.
The teams that will participate in the competition are Indies del Sur, Reinas del Este and Olímpicas de la Vega. Also Hidalgas de Santiago, Club Calero, Las Murallas de San Lázaro and Los Mina.
“This year the teams are very strong, so I invite basketball fans to support the girls, because they need support,” said Páez.
Páez also explained that the League will serve as a preamble for the preparation of players who will participate in the next FIBA Americas Women’s Centrobasket event.
Dedication to the 2024 season of the National Women’s Basketball League
The seventh season of the National Women’s Basketball League will be dedicated to Tony Tueni, for his outstanding career in Dominican basketball.
During the meeting, the jugadroas draft is scheduled for next Tuesday, September 3. This draft will be with the members of the Mauricio Báez Club and Águilas de Guachupita, clubs that are in recess this season.
In addition to Junior Páez, José Esteban Borremé, from the Board of Directors of Fedombal, and Ramón Ceballos, technical director of Fedombal, participated in the meeting. Also Niurka Herrera, former glory of women’s basketball and the national team; and the representatives of the different teams that will participate in the fair.
