Amanda Anisimova, the 2019 Roland-Garros semi-finalist, produced a dominant performance to defeat Beatriz Haddad Maia 6-0, 6-3 and storm into the quarter-finals of the US Open. The American was in imperious form, breaking Haddad Maia’s service in the first game and never looking back.

The fightback in the second set
Haddad Maia fought back in the second set, breaking Anisimova’s service in the initial game. However, Anisimova, with her exceptional skills and resilience, fought back and secured victory in straight sets.
With this victory, Anisimova’s Grand Slam record improved to 42-22, with her best record of the season improving from 35-14.

The American will next face second-seeded Iga Swiatek in the quarter-finals, seeking to avenge her quarter-final defeat at Wimbledon earlier this year.
