After Prague, Chicago, Geneva, Boston, London and Vancouver, the seventh edition of the Laver Cup will take place in Berlin this year. Zverev he sees from the Germans Tennis all very important. “We are stumbling a bit at the moment, especially in terms of the young players on the tour. We are not the best or what we used to be. But now the best players in the world are coming to Berlin.”
This is mainly aimed at encouraging young people. “Unfortunately, we no longer have a Masters tournament in Germany. We don’t have a Grand Slam tournament. And then seeing people like Carlos Alcaraz, me or Daniil Medvedev sitting in the hall is very important for young people.”

How does it work? Cup making really?
European tennis players will compete as “Team Europe” against six opponents from other countries who will compete as “Team World”. Due to their international status, three of the six players enter the group Björn Borg (68/Europe) and John McEnroe (65/World) each select three other players.
Twelve matches are played over three days, with four matches (three singles and one doubles) on the schedule. Each player plays one or two games and at least four of the six on the team must play twice.
By the way: The Laver Cup is also important financially. Although the tournament is not an official ATP tournament, entry fees can reach seven figures. Each player from the winning team receives 225,000 euros.
