Varese Basketball is happy to announce the acquisition of Alexander Trent Tyus, a center born in 1988 who will wear the red and white jersey until the end of the season. Tyus is a player with a lot of international experience, given leadership and able to impose his body in attack and, above all, in defense. For him, this is the second experience in Italy in his career, but behind him he has many years of playing in the European championships, experienced in more than 200 appearances in the Euroleague, a competition that he won in 2014 wearing the jersey of Maccabi Tel Aviv.

Trained at the University of Florida, Tyus made his professional debut during the 2011-2012 season in Israel with the shirt of Maccabi Ashdod and then moved the following year to Italy, in Cantù, where he also had the opportunity to make his debut in the Euroleague . The good numbers recorded in LBA (9.4 points, 6.3 rebounds and 1 blocked shot per lace on average), experienced in the victory of the Italian Super Cup, brought him back to Israel in 2013-2014, where he wore the Maccabi Tel Aviv jersey for two seasons, becoming a point of reference for the yellow and blue both in the national territory (winning a championship and two Israeli Cups) and in Europe, culminating in the success of the Euroleague in 2014 With Maccabi he will play another two-year season between 2017 and 2019 (in between “Turkish” experiences at Efes and Galatasaray), before moving to Russia at UNICS Kazan (2019-2020) and returning in Galatasaray (2020-2021), a team he left in December for the white tank top of Real Madrid. After a year in Turkey, this time with the Pinar Karsiyaka shirt, Tyus became the protagonist in France with ASVEL, where he played his last season in the Euroleague (5.7 points, 4.3 rebounds) before a bag- return to Russia (Runa Moscow) and Israel (Hapoel Jerusalem).
Alex Tyus holds an Israeli passport since 2012, the national team where he also played in Eurobasket 2013.
