The World No. 1 defeated Norrie 6-3, 6-4, avenging a previous loss to the Briton last November in Paris. This win marks Alcaraz’s fifth consecutive appearance in the Indian Wells semifinals.

Alcaraz acknowledged the difficulty of playing against Norrie, stating, I struggle a lot with his style. Every time I play against him it’s always really tough for me. It’s a little bit confusing with his style, his [heavy] topspin forehand, super high. And then the backhand, really flat and really low. Sometimes it’s tricky to play against him. He added, I’m finding the right shot. I played well. I played solid. I played aggressive when I could. I’m happy to play this level.

Alcaraz’s matches have been marked by enthusiastic fan support, with a group of supporters attending each game dressed as bees. Following his victory, Alcaraz joined in the fun, donning a bee costume and celebrating with the crowd after a costume was thrown onto the court.

They asked me to put it on and I had to do it for them. It’s tremendous how all the parties support me. The truth is that it was funny, he said.
