Akshay Bhatia Stays True to PGA Tour, Turns Down LIV Golf Offer
Akshay Bhatia, the 23-year-old American golf sensation, has declined a lucrative offer from LIV Golf. Despite the attractive financial package, Bhatia has decided to remain loyal to the PGA Tour.
“According to information revealed by Rex Hoggard of Golf Channel, the 23-year-old American player declined an offer deemed ‘lucrative’ from the circuit financed by Saudi Arabia, thus confirming his attachment to the PGA Tour.”
Bhatia, a left-hander, has already established himself as a force on the American circuit. A double winner on the PGA Tour, he has also participated in the Tour Championship for the last two seasons, and currently ranks 46th in the world rankings.
Amidst LIV Golf’s Increased Activity
Bhatia’s decision comes at a time when LIV Golf is seeing increased activity. Just recently, five-time major winner Brooks Koepka joined the league. Despite this, LIV continues to attract established talent, with two-time DP World Tour winner Thomas Detry and Elvis Smylie, a two-time winner on the Korn Ferry Tour, reportedly set to join.
