Following the choice of the President of the Transition, Colonel Assimi Goïta, to ensure the first rotating presidency of the Confederation Alliance of Sahel States (AES), the United Front platform for the safeguarding of the integrity of Mali (FUSI-Mali) in collaboration with the National Coordination of Citizen Monitoring Associations (CNAVC) of Burkina Faso and the Association of Patriotic Women of Niger (AFPN) will organize from October 26 to November 26, the Pan-African Caravan for the consolidation of the Confederation of Sahel States (CPCC-AES).

This pan-African mobilization also benefits from the support of the founding families of Bamako and many other traditional legitimacies and pan-Africans. It is part of the revitalization and the concretization of the ideologies of the three presidents and the involvement of the people in the success of the young Confederation. The event is placed under the honorary presidency of the three heads of state of the AES. The announcement was made last Saturday by the leaders of the Platform during a press conference in Bamako. The conference was co-hosted by the national coordinator of FUSI-Mali, Zanga Goïta, in the presence of the president of the organizing committee of the caravan, Boubacar Touré, the representative of the founding families of Bamako, Lassine Niaré and many other personalities. In his opening statement, FUSI-Mali expert Boubacar Bocoum indicated that in order to succeed in Colonel Assimi Goïta’s first term, the Platform saw the need to take a confederal initiative in the spirit of a caravan bringing together the States of Burkina, Niger and Mali.

The activity will close in Bamako on November 26, 2024, with a large pan-African meeting in support of the Alliance authorities.

In this regard, the speaker highlighted the security, economic and political challenges facing the Sahel, following “NATO aggression through different forms of destabilization”. In this regard, FUSI-Mali and its partners in Burkina Faso and Niger believe that it is imperative, on the one hand, to involve the people in the success of the confederation, and on the other hand, to collect the proposals of the populations of the three AES countries.
For his part, the president of the organizing committee explained that the caravan will leave Bamako and travel through Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger, in a framework of exchanges and strategic information. But also to collect proposals for activities from the populations of several cities and villages along the way, during meetings and conferences in the different capitals. “We will be 150 caravaners with 50 people per country,” he explained.
