Adrian Mannarino Secures Victory in Astana
Frenchman Saves 11 Set Points to Reach Semi-Finals
In a remarkable display of resilience, Adrian Mannarino clinched his 35th victory of the season, setting a personal record, and secured his third semi-final appearance in Astana. However, it was not an easy feat as he had to save a staggering 11 set points against Jurij Rodionov, ranked 107th in the world.
Despite the initial struggles, Mannarino emerged victorious in straight sets, with a scoreline of 6-1, 7-6(6). The 34-year-old Frenchman faced a moment of frustration when he mishandled his racket and t-shirt, resulting in a penalty point during the tie-break where he was trailing 2-6.
“I had a rough patch in the second set, making numerous mistakes and playing poorly. During the tiebreak, my only focus was to finish the match quickly. The penalty point came as a surprise, but it actually helped calm my nerves,” Mannarino explained, as reported by The Team.
