Linesman Technology Debuts

This year’s Adler Cup marked a significant milestone with the introduction of linesman technology on the Rebound Ace pitches in the U14, U16, and U18 age groups. The PlayReplay system was used as a pilot project in DTB youth tournament operation.

“It is impressive to see how intuitively the young people have adapted this technology; even a short instruction was enough to give the players back full sovereignty over their matches.”

Samuel Speicher, Department Head

In 35 evaluated matches, 118 challenges were presented, with approximately 34 percent revised in favor of the challenger, saving around 5.9 hours of discussion time. PlayReplay is the only system in its class in the world with the official “ITF Silver” certification.

The system also had a preventative effect, with players less likely to call balls “out” and parents and spectators accepting decisions without dispute.

“Brilliant for the first time – and the first time without any discussions. Immediate agreement and concentration on the game again. The better player won, and no one else.”

Nicolas Kaiser, U14 player

“The line system worked great. That could really change the tournaments – players no longer have the opportunity to cheat without facing consequences.”

Mateo Nidelat, U18 player
