Milan Overcome Early Setback

Milan got off to a rocky start as they conceded from a corner, with Marc-Oliver Kempf putting Como ahead. However, a penalty from Christopher Nkunku just before halftime levelled the scoreline and gave Milan the impetus they needed.

Maignan Shines, Rabiot net Double

Mike Maignan made several crucial saves to keep Milan in the game, while Adrien Rabiot scored twice in the second half – early and late – to secure the vital three points for the Rossoneri.

This is a very resilient team and it wanted the result at all costs.

Tactical Shifts

Allegri revealed after the game that he switched between a 4-3-3 and 3-5-2 formation during the match. He explained:

  • They started with four midfielders in possession to create more passing lines, but switched to three upfront after equalizing to exploit space behind Como’s defense.
  • Upon retaking the lead, they reverted to the initial formation to consolidate their position.

Did you know? AC Milan have now scored nine goals from corner situations in Serie A this season, more than any other team.

Leao’s Role and Injury News

Allegri clarified that Rafael Leao wanted to take the penalty but he opted for Nkunku instead. He also revealed that Niclas Fullkrug played despite fracturing his toe only a few days prior.

“Fullkrug coming on with the right spirit was crucial, but so were the performances of the others. It’s not easy to play against Como, and once you go behind, they keep creating chances,” said Allegri.
