A message from the editors of Baseball Prospectus: The subscription price will not change

Dear readers:

We just met with our owners and wanted to update you on how things are going Baseball Prospectus and our plans for the future.

Getting to the point: Like many sites with our business model, our subscriptions have decreased slightly in the last 1-2 seasons. It’s not serious at the moment, but it’s also something we want to aggressively fix. One of the solutions available to us is to raise the price of subscriptions: readers have told us many times that they would pay more for the value we offer.

We have only raised fees once in our history, in 2017, from $40 to $45.95 for a premium subscription. However, we do not want to do this. Unless there is no legitimate other option, our preference is to keep our subscription as accessible and affordable as possible. It is a challenge to keep our prices as static as they have been until now (there seems to be something called inflation…), but it is a challenge worth pursuing.

To make this possible, we need a larger subscriber base than we currently have. Despite our presence in the sector, you will be surprised to know that we have more than 6,000 subscribers, including our monthly contributors. We doubled the number. If we can add a thousand… or please two thousand… it will have a huge impact on our ability to maintain current prices and keep BP affordable for as many people as possible.

We are very grateful to the many, many people who have given a testimonial on social media in recent days and weeks, promoting BP and telling people why it is a great value. And we will do everything possible to ensure that the subscription to Baseball Prospectus remains an easy choice. We just need your help to spread the word: tell your family, your friends, your followers, or even someone on the street wearing a baseball cap how great this product is. We are sure that our work speaks for itself, but first we need people to hear it.

Regardless of this situation, we have big things planned for 2025. That includes updates to our leaderboards and player cards, new series from our incredibly talented authors, new release metrics , and some fun, quality updates from PECOTA, among other things . Any additional subscribers will help us keep the prices where they are and hit more targets, faster, because our owners are very good at investing everything back into the company.

We have a lot of good stuff, and we just want to bring it to as many people as possible, at an affordable price. We are very grateful to those who are already helping us achieve this, and we thank everyone in advance who is willing to spread the word.

We remind you of that you can give a subscription quickly or refer someone to our subscription page. And if,BP360 is here!
