In a splash of competitive spirit, the 71st Gyeonggi Sports Competition, Gyeonggi-do’s largest sports festival, concluded with Hwaseong City earning a historic three straight wins and Pocheon County reclaiming their supremacy after six long years. The triumphant teams proved their mettle across various sports, leaving spectators in awe.

Hwaseong City: A Swimming, Volleyball, and Archery Force

The Hwaseong City Squadron proved to be unstoppable, amassing a tremendous 3,390 points in the tournament’s first department. They outshone Seongnam (31,285 points) and Suwon (36,070 points) in their pursuit, demonstrating their prowess in swimming, volleyball, kendo, archery, baseball, and dance sports. Their third-place finishes in soccer, Wushu, shooting, and Baduk further cemented their dominance.

Seongnam City led the pack with first-place wins in badminton, bowling, and shooting, while Suwon, though strong in soccer, soft tennis, volleyball, wrestling, taekwondo, and shooting, was hindered by sports imbalances, settling for third place.

Pocheon County’s Six-Year Reign

Meanwhile, in the second department, Pocheon County scored a monumental 23,860 points, surpassing Uiwang City (21,322 points) and Icheon City (2,981 points) to regain their previous six-year dominance. Pocheon’s victory was well-balanced, with wins in weightlifting and billiards, along with impressive showings in wrestling, golf, bodybuilding, baseball, and third-place finishes in soft tennis, badminton, and basketball.

Uiwang City secured wins in swimming and table tennis, while Icheon City shone in soft tennis and boxing.
