Jets Clinch Presidents’ Trophy, Break Franchise Records
The Winnipeg Jets made history on Sunday, clinching their first-ever Presidents’ Trophy, leading the NHL with 114 points (55-22-4), and breaking their franchise record for wins with 55. This incredible achievement ties their previous high of 114 points set in the 2017-18 season.
Samberg Leaves Game with Leg Injury
Last Sunday, Jets’ defenseman Dylan Samberg was injured when he blocked a shot during the game against the Edmonton Oilers. “I knew it wasn’t anything serious,” said Samberg, “It was just that my leg went dead, and I couldn’t move it… obviously hurt pretty bad, but I knew there wasn’t anything serious about it.” He practiced Tuesday and expects to be back.
Gabe Vilardi Returns to Practice After Injury
In better news, forward Gabe Vilardi returned to practice Tuesday after missing ten games with an injury. The 25-year-old reached career highs this season in games played (71), goals (27), assists (34), points (61), and power-play goals (12). Teammate Cole Perfetti expressed excitement about Vilardi’s return: “You guys know what he means to this team… We’re excited to see him back.”
Alex Iafallo Signs Three-Year Extension with Jets
The Jets announced Wednesday that forward Alex Iafallo has signed a three-year contract extension with an average annual value of $3.67 million. “Such a great organization, city, fans, and just the team alone,” said Iafallo, expressing his enthusiasm to stay in Winnipeg.
Jets’ Schedule Notes and Injury Updates
- Six Jets — Kyle Connor, Mark Scheifele, Nino Niederreiter, Alex Iafallo, Dylan DeMelo, and Cole Perfetti — will have played all 82 games this season.
