The Colombian economy received historic recognition by being classified as the sixth best in the world in 2024 by the prestigious magazine The Economist. The analysis, titled “Which economy performed best in 2024?”, evaluated key indicators such as GDP, core inflation, employment, public deficit and stock market performance in 37 OECD countries.

The ranking is led by Spain, Ireland, Denmark, Greece and Italy, with Colombia as the only Latin American country in the top 10. The magazine highlights that, despite global challenges, Colombia surpassed Chile and Mexico, its closest peers, which They placed 11th and 16th, respectively.

The Economist highlights that, while northern European economies such as Germany and Great Britain faced disappointing performances, Colombia managed to stand out thanks to policies that boosted productivity and stability.

Colombia’s position projects the country as a benchmark in the transformation towards a more sustainable and diversified economic model.
