New Delhi, 25 December (Hindustan Reporter). Afghanistan’s star player Rashid Khan has been ruled out of the opening test of the two-match series against Zimbabwe due to personal reasons. The 26-year-old Rashid was away from red-ball cricket on the advice of his doctor following his back injury and subsequently missed the Test series against New Zealand.
Later, the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) announced that he would be away from Test cricket until November and there were doubts whether he would be able to make the Test squad for the Zimbabwe tour. However, Rashid has ultimately been included in the 18-man squad for the series starting on 26 December at Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo.
On Tuesday, the veteran leg spinner posted a picture of himself on his official Facebook page, in which he is seen posing in the Netherlands. On the same day, the Afghanistan Cricket Board posted pictures of its team’s preparations for the first Test in Bulawayo. There was no sign of Rashid in those pictures shared by ACB.
