Petersberg (fp) – Christmas in front of the Propsteihaus: With a big music program from the Steinau-Steinhaus music association, Mayor Claudia Brandes, together with local mayor Peter Scheel and club chairman Oliver Bajunovic, officially opened the Christmas market on the town hall square in Petersberg on Saturday afternoon.
The large, colorfully decorated tree on the town hall square makes it clear from afar: the Christmas market in Petersberg is back. Numerous guests had already come to stroll at the start on Saturday. “I’m pleased that so many faces can be seen at such an early stage,” said Mayor Brandes about the large crowds. The town hall boss emphasized that Advent is a time of contemplation, togetherness and charity: “And what better way to get together with friends and family than a Christmas market.”
Mayor Peter Scheel was enthusiastic about the event. “It couldn’t be more beautiful than Petersberg,” he shouted to the audience. The Christmas market is a nice start to the Advent season, he added, and thanked those involved for their commitment.
The popular tradition is organized by seven clubs from the core town, which together form the Petersberg club community. Its chairman Oliver Bajunovic was proud of the achievement. “I have the feeling it gets nicer every year,” he said happily and added: “It’s a great campaign. Every year anew.” He thanked the seven clubs consisting of the carnival club, lawn sports club (RSV), DLRG, shooting club, local history club, judo club and the Fulda-Petersberg youth development club for their cooperation but emphasized that the community is always looking for members is. “Interested clubs from the core town of Petersberg can contact me,” said Bajunovic. To do this, they should simply write an email to info@vereinsgemeinschaft-petersberg.de.
The Petersberg Christmas market offers a colorful program for young and old. In addition to the classic Christmas market stalls with various culinary delicacies, mulled wine and other warm spirits, there is also a small children’s program with a carousel for the little ones. The Advent bazaar takes place in the Probsteihaus itself during the Christmas market, where guests can warm up and purchase one or two pieces of jewelry.
The Christmas market opens its doors again on Sunday from 2 p.m. From 3 p.m. “Songs for 2” will play for the guests and from 6 p.m. the Marbach music association will bring more Christmas cheer.
