Stories, talks, cinema, workshops, creative yoga and judo “without barriers”. These are some of the activities with which the Diver Gent association, from Formentera, will celebrate this year the International Day of People with Functional Diversity, which is commemorated on December 3. The events will begin this Thursday and will last until mid-December, as detailed by the entity yesterday.
This Thursday at five in the afternoon at the Sant Ferran Reading Punt Maritzatejecuentos will star in a session of ‘Naughty Stories’ designed for boys and girls who have already turned three years old. On Monday, Wednesday and Thursday of next week (2, 4 and 5) the members of the association, as well as some of the professionals who serve them, will give, through Ràdio Illa (frequency 107.9) some talks on disability and inclusion. All this, in first person. It will be at eleven in the morning on three days.
Diver Gent will resume activities on December 12 at half past six in the afternoon. At that time, the film ‘Campeonex’, by director Guillermo Fesser, will be screened at the Casal de Joves. The idea is, at the end, to share reflections and feelings about the film. On Saturday, December 14 in the morning (10 a.m.), a creative yoga workshop for people with disabilities is planned at Salut Factory, in Sant Ferran. It will be taught by Flor Mauger. The following day, Sunday, the activities organized by Diver Gent to commemorate December 3 will conclude with a day of judo without barriers taught by Alma Wünsche and Roberto Paños, from the Dojo Formentera and Dojo Ibiza sports clubs. The session, at the Antoni Blanc sports center, is designed for people with functional diversity.
The association, which was born just two years ago with the objective of “achieving equal opportunities for all people with disabilities, took advantage of the presentation of the program of events organized on the occasion of the international day to thank Lío for allocating the proceeds to them of the solidarity dinner held every year when the season ends.
“This has given visibility to the local association and has allowed many companies and individuals to provide support and learn about the work being done,” they indicate from the entity, which highlights that “everything” that was raised at the dinner “will go to launch the socio-labor, leisure and family support projects that they have been developing for just under two years.
A function that they carry out with “a multidisciplinary team made up of professionals from different fields: guidance, psychology, education, leisure, culture, health, communication and families.”
Its objectives are the early detection of disabilities, offering leisure and sports activities for people with functional diversity, accompanying them and their families “at all stages” and coordinating with administrations to achieve inclusion.
