London. England men’s cricket team assistant coaches Carl Hopkinson and Richard Dawson have stepped down as white-ball coaches, the England Cricket Board (ECB) confirmed on Sunday (November 17). The move is part of a reshuffle of the national team’s coaching staff, with Brendon McCullum taking over as the all-round coach from January.

Hopkinson was involved in England’s ODI World Cup victory in 2019, and their T20 World Cup triumph in Australia in 2022, while Dawson – a former England Young Lions coach – played a part in Australia’s final victory. He was part of.

England’s return to the white ball took a nosedive after failing to defend the trophy twice in the last 12 months in India and the USA-West Indies, which led to the resignation of former head coach Matthew Mott earlier this year.

Director of Cricket Rob Key said, “Hoppo and Doss are two outstanding coaches who have played a vital role in the success of our white ball teams. In addition to his coaching expertise with our senior teams he has also developed young players through the generations to help establish “England cricket is in a better place because of him and I wish him well in the next chapter of his career.”
