Ecuadorian national team midfielder Marco Angulo died at the age of 22, the press service of the Ecuadorian Football Federation (FEF) reported.
According to media reports, Angulo was involved in a traffic accident more than a month ago and spent about 35 days in a coma. The player died on November 11.
“We express our deep regret for the death of team player Marco Angulo, who defended the colors of our country at every opportunity with his talent and dedication.
Marco is not only a fantastic player, but also a great teammate. His death leaves a deep ache in our hearts, especially those who shared countless trips, practices and games with him.
We wish his family, colleagues and loved ones strength during this difficult time. Rest in peace Angulito,” said the FEF in a statement.
Angulo made his debut for the main national team of Ecuador exactly two years ago – on November 12, 2022. In total, he played two matches for the national team.
