After a defeat against Golden State, Boston almost missed out again against Brooklyn before achieving another success after overtime. In the wake of Lebron James author of a triple-double, the Lakers raised their heads after two defeats in a row. Minnesota has had a third success in a row and remains in contact with the franchises at the top of the table.
Is there a grain of sand in the wheels of the Boston Celtics? A priori no, or at least it doesn’t look like it. But during the night from Friday to Saturday, the reigning NBA champions still had a few sweats of the same ilk as during their last match lost against Golden State (112-118). At TD Garden, Boston was first surprised in the first quarter (24-28) before reacting in the second (49-51). The Celtics and the Nets then took the lead even if the locals negotiated the last quarter better, which meant overtime. In this game, Boston was the most effective and achieved an eighth success in ten matches in the regular phase. Jayson Tatum came close to a double-double with 33 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists while Payton Pritchard and Jrue Holiday were not left out with 20 and 17 points. Also note the double-double of Al Horford (13 points, 10 rebounds). Opposite, Cameron Thomas was the top scorer for the Nets (31 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist) but that was not enough. The wing-back was still able to count on the support of Denis Schroder (20 points) and Cameron Johnson (18 points).
The King has declared revolt! After two big defeats in a row against Detroit and Memphis, Los Angeles reacted on its floor against Philadelphia (116-106). And it’s partly thanks to LeBron James and his triple-double (21 points, 12 rebounds, 13 assists). If he was not the best scorer of the evening unlike Anthony Davis (31 points, 9 assists), the former Cavalier dictated the tone of his team throughout this meeting. Los Angeles played well in the first half, which allowed them to return to the locker room with an 8-point lead (68-60). The Lakers then pushed back in the third quarter to calmly manage the last one. In the wake of a concerned Jared McCain (18 points), the Sixers failed to reverse the trend despite 14 points from Andre Drummond and Guerschon Yabusele (5 rebounds).
Jokic on his standards
After its defeat on November 3 against the Spurs, Minnesota has had a string of successes. During the night from Friday to Saturday, the Timberwolves took the best at home against Portland (127-102). Anthony Edwards particularly stood out with 37 points (6 rebounds, 5 assists). Minnesota led its boat well throughout the match thanks to a convincing first quarter (35-17). Rudy Gobert was very useful in rebounding (8 points, 15 rebounds, 2 assists) for the Timberwolves while Rayan Rupert was a little more discreet (3 points, 1 rebound) for the Trail Blazers. After a reception from Miami, Minnesota will head to Oregon for two new matches against Portland.
Nikola Jokic was the author of a third triple-double in a row last night against Miami (30 points, 11 rebounds, 14 assists). And his performance allowed the Nuggets to win in Colorado against the Heat (135-122). With 62% shooting success, Denver made the powder speak. Jamal Murray (28 points, 4 rebounds, 6 assists) was not left out, as was Christian Braun (21 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists) and Michael Porter Jr (21 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists).
