Pakistan lost the first test by an innings. However, they defeated England in the second Test at the same venue to level the series. The third and final Test of the series will begin in Rawalpindi on Thursday (October 24). Pakistan is creating a spin trap like in the second test.
On Monday (October 21), Rawalpindi was seen using hitters at both ends of the wicket. Also install big industrial fans to give air. Pakistan also used this fan before the second Test in Multan to create a spin-friendly wicket. Basically, after pouring a lot of water, they are using this dome-shaped fan to dry it.
Pakistan’s two spinners Noman Ali and Sajid Khan took all 20 wickets of England in the second Test. Here too the hosts want to use their trump card.
However, Rawalpindi’s wicket is very flat. Where spinners do not get much advantage. But last month it was here that Bangladesh spinner Mehdi Hasan Miraj took 10 wickets. That is why they are ready to bet on Noman and Sajid.
However, since 2019 when Tests started at this venue, spinners have cost an average of 50 runs to take a wicket. On the other hand pacers gave 34 runs per wicket. Shaheen Afridi and Hasan Ali took 9 wickets in the fourth innings against South Africa in 2021. The average score here in the fourth innings is 200-300.
However, after winning the second Test by 152 runs, captain Shan Masood wanted a spin-friendly wicket in Rawalpindi as well. And that’s why the curators are preparing the wickets here like Multan.
Meanwhile, England coach Brendon McCullum thinks Rawalpindi’s wicket will be pace-friendly.
