Youth from Liaoning Province in China and Kanagawa Prefecture in Japan, sister cities of Gyeonggi Province, are holding the 2024 Korea-China-Japan International Sports Exchange in Hwaseong City for 4 nights and 5 days from the 26th to the 30th.

This Korea-China-Japan International Sports Exchange is an international youth sports exchange event that has been held in three countries since 2004, with 152 officials and players (41 officials, 111 players) from three cities participating in exchange activities across three sports: soccer, basketball, and table tennis.

The three city exchange groups held a welcome dinner on the afternoon of the 26th, followed by a three-country full league exchange match on the morning of the 27th for three days. In the first day’s exchange match between Gyeonggi-do and Liaoning-do, the national soccer team consisting of Osan Information High School and Pyeongtaek Jinwi FC won a great victory by 5 to 1.

On the other hand, the boys’ and girls’ table tennis teams from Anyang Girls’ High School and Bucheon Jungwon High School both lost 1-2 to Liaoning Province, and the Suwon Girls’ High School basketball team also lost 70-71 to Liaoning Province.

On the 28th, the second day of the exchange match, Liaoning Province and Kanagawa Prefecture will have an exchange match in three events, and on the 29th, the Kanagawa Prefecture and Gyeonggi Province representatives will play a match.

Meanwhile, following the morning exchange, the Korean, Chinese, and Japanese players also had time to learn about Korean culture through cultural experience events. They visited Everland in Yongin on the 27th, and are scheduled to visit the Korean Folk Village in Yongin on the 28th. They will end their official schedule with a visit to Anseong Starfield and a farewell dinner on the 29th.

Lee Won-seong, Chairman of the Gyeonggi Sports Association, said, “I expect that the sports exchange among the three cities of Korea, China, and Japan will be an opportunity for the youth leading the future of the three Northeast Asian countries to not only promote friendship through sports, but also understand each country’s culture and build friendship,” adding, “I hope that it will be a valuable time for the Japanese and Chinese teams to experience K-culture while staying in Korea.”
