Cricketers continue to practice privately at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium. But the atmosphere outside the field is completely different. The color is changing moment by moment. The home of cricket is bustling with sports organizers who have been neglected for so long.
Since the beginning of the anti-discrimination student movement, most of the cricketers have come out in support on social media. One of them is the national team wicketkeeper batsman Nurul Hasan Sohan. He is now in the media.
Apart from corruption, this wicket-keeper batsman of the national team also opened up about the politics and business of cricketers. On Sunday (August 11), Sohan told the media in Mirpur that no one should come to cricket if they are involved in politics and business.
‘Playing in the national team by actively playing politics should never be done. Politics is a big deal. It is difficult to give such time from the field of politics to the national team. If someone wants to do politics, then he should do it after retirement from sports.’
Mashrafe bin Mortaza-Shaqib Al Hasan became MPs of the government party despite playing cricket. In the 2024 election, Mashrafe became an MP for the second time, but this time Shakib became the MP for the first time.
While Mashrafe was an MP, he played regularly in the national team, played in the 2019 World Cup, but lost his place in the national team after 2020. But continued to play domestic and franchise cricket regularly. Meanwhile, Shakib played the T20 World Cup this year while being an MP, and is still in the national team.
It is clear that Sohan is referring to Shakib-Mashrafi. Meanwhile, not only teammates but also sports organizers, he took a hand, ‘good organizers should come to the cricket board. Cricket board is not a place to implement personal agenda. It is better not to come on the board of people who will come here and leave the country after earning a large amount of money.’
‘I have questions about some people. Of course there are many good people in BCB, in sports. But people who want to do business with sports should not come. Brings personal agenda. They don’t need to come to cricket’- added Sohan.
