Rugby, Innocenti: “Let’s try to win the Six Nations”. Brunello to Zebre

Zebre, changes are coming. Fabio Roselli leaves at the end of the season, and in his place comes Massimo Brunello, already technical manager of the Italy under 20 for the last three seasons. The hiring of the coach from Rovigo to lead the club was made official by the president of the franchise Domenico Bordieri, during the meeting summarizing the international activity of the first four months of 2024 held in Rome at the Stadio Olimpico.

With the same motivations, Mattia Dolcetto is also leaving his role as assistant coach of the Azzurrini, where Roberto Santamaria, already on the staff with the role of assistant coach specialist of the forwards, is taking over instead. It will be up to him to lead the Under 20 to the next World Cup (29 June–19 July in South Africa) of the category. The new assistants for the forwards and three-quarters are yet to be decided. Richard Hodges, currently assistant coach in Parma, is also leaving to join the national team staff in the role of defence coach starting from the 2024 Summer Tour in the South Pacific.

Fir president Marzio Innocenti was satisfied: “One of the commitments made was to change. I think we have changed a lot, especially from the point of view of the results of the national teams, in the Six Nations in particular. It was our best tournament in 25 years of participation. Much of the credit goes to coach Quesada, but we keep our feet on the ground because we know that sometimes Italy goes backwards like crabs. One of the strategic objectives that we asked of him, starting from the next summer tour, is to beat all the teams below in the ranking and, at the same time, continue to grow the team, which will reach its peak in 2026-27. In the next four years we want to try to win the Six Nations, it is almost impossible, but I am convinced that Italy can do this”.
