Conditions are clearly getting tougher this Friday for the second round of the Irish Challenge at the K Club track not far from Dublin. If Robin Sciot-Siegrist (photo) and Sébastien Gros were excellent in 4th place at -6, only one of the fifteen other French players played under par in the second round.
It is the experience advantage of the big blue contingent this week in Ireland that can somewhat save the furniture after the first two rounds ofIreland’s challenge17th calendar event Challenge Tour.
Experience, because Sébastien Gros, 9 years after his best season in the second division, recalled his past exploits to finish in the top 5 on Friday night. At the time the 34-year-old was only 25 years old and won twice in the same year in Brittany and Kazakhstan on his way to second place in the Order of Merit. After a 67 (-5) the previous day in Ireland, he signed a 71 (-1) for a total of -6 after 36 holes.

Experience also because some French who monopolized the summits of the leaderboard for two weeks now called Robin Sciot Siegrist, 30 years. He has yet to win the antechamber of DP World Tour, but with his second 69 (-3) in a row, his appetite seems tenfold. Like his desire to return to the elite, only one season after leaving it.
In -6 overall, the two thirty-year-old is 4th, four lengths from the lead, more precisely from the Swede Joakim Lagergren of -10 total.
The cut swallowed the blues
The only other French player who showed himself to his advantage this Friday was called Pierre Pineau with card 71 (-1). Here he is 32nd in -2 total in the company ofAlexander Levy. Not very lively after opening 66 (-6) Guillamoundeguy forest played a 73 (+1) and remained in the game one length out of the top 10 at -5 total.
In the background, everyone suffered, some more than others. So 10 of the 17 Frenchmen involved this week will miss the weekend of K Club in Ireland, especially Martin Couvrera (8 in Road to Mallorca) and Felix Mory (26e à la Road to Mallorca).
