UBAA Welcomes New Badminton Coach with Ambitious Goals

The Union du Badminton de l’Agglomération Albigeoise (UBAA) has welcomed a new coach, Léo Rampnoux, with a clear vision for the club’s future. The appointment signals a commitment to strengthening the UBAA’s sporting sector and achieving ambitious competitive goals.

A Rising Star in Badminton Coaching

Léo Rampnoux, 21, joins the UBAA from Angoulême, bringing with him a state diploma (DEJEPS) specializing in badminton. This marks his first professional coaching role, but he arrives with a strong foundation and a determined spirit.

Rampnoux’s passion for badminton was ignited by a coach who made me want to play badminton, even though I was practicing fencing! he recalls. He trained in Bordeaux to obtain his diploma and was previously licensed at the Talence club.

Focus on Development and Inclusion

The new coach is described as an expert technician, capable of supporting players of all levels, from beginners to experienced competitors. He will focus on developing both leisure and competitive players, with a particular emphasis on inclusivity.

Rampnoux’s responsibilities include leading the club’s youth badminton program and ensuring access to the sport for all, with a target of 50% female participation. He also will be involved in adapted sport initiatives.

Ambitious Goals for the Future

The UBAA has set an ambitious, yet attainable, objective: to reach Nationale 3 by 2028. Rampnoux has been hired on a permanent contract to help achieve this goal.

Currently, Rampnoux dedicates twenty hours per week to coaching adults and young people at the Lagrèze gymnasium in Albi and the facility in Puygouzon. He also competes as a player in Regional 2.
