Violent confrontations between supporters of Borussia Dortmund and Hamburger SV marred the aftermath of their match on Saturday, resulting in over 150 arrests, according to reports. The clashes occurred despite a pre-game display of unity between the two fan bases.

During the game, a notable moment of solidarity occurred in the 26th minute when both sets of fans commemorated Cologne Ultra member Nicolas, who recently passed away at the age of 26. The BVB fans lit a red pyro torch and unfurled a banner reading Rest in peace, Nicolas, although the HSV Ultras displayed a banner stating Ultras never die!. Following this tribute, both groups of supporters applauded each other.

Post-Match Violence and Police Intervention

However, approximately an hour after the final whistle, the atmosphere turned volatile. Police report that some fans appeared to have pre-arranged to engage in conflict. Evidence suggests that some HSV buses deliberately deviated from their usual routes towards the motorway, instead stopping to allow fans to disembark and clash with BVB supporters.

When authorities arrived, individuals involved allegedly attempted to flee in multiple directions. Reinforcements were called in, and surrounding streets were searched. 152 people were taken into custody, with the majority reportedly being HSV supporters. Several criminal charges related to breach of the peace have been filed.
