Tiger Woods Confirmed to Compete at the 2026 Masters
Information appearing on the official Masters website would seem to confirm that Tiger Woods will indeed start the 90th Masters Tournament in a little over two weeks in Augusta!
Fans of Tiger Woods are closely following any news regarding their idol’s potential participation in the upcoming Masters.
Recent reports of a private jet registered to Woods landing at Augusta Regional Airport in Georgia sparked speculation that the 15-time major champion was scouting the course three weeks before the tournament.
While initial reports were unconfirmed, the sighting fueled hope among fans.
Update on Woods’ Recovery and Preparation
Woods’ absence from the Jupiter Links Golf Club team for the TGL semi-final initially dampened spirits. Though, Woods himself stated he was working
to make his presence at the Masters possible.
This Friday, information published on the official Masters website appears to confirm those hopes. While Woods has not officially announced his participation, his name appears on the list of invited players with the following note:
Tiger Woods will take part in his 27th Masters in 2026…
Given the Masters Tournament’s reputation for accuracy and rigor in its communications, it is highly likely that this update was published with Woods’ approval.
Ongoing Health Challenges
Woods has not competed in an official Tour event since missing the cut at The Open Championship at Royal Troon in July 2024. He has been focused on recovery from a ruptured Achilles tendon and a bulging disc, undergoing surgery for the latter in October 2025.
Recently, Woods provided a candid update on his health, stating, I said I’ve been working on it. Sometimes I have good days, sometimes I have bad days. Disk replacement is not a lot of fun. … So as I said, I’ve had a lot of procedures prior to that, so the body doesn’t quite heal like it was when I was 24. Doesn’t quite bounce back. So I have good days when I can pretty much do anything, and other days where it’s hard to just to move around.
Despite these challenges, he has been cleared by doctors to begin hitting balls again as he builds strength and prepares to compete at the highest level.
Family Support and Early Visit
The sighting of Woods’ jet in Augusta coincided with his son, Charlie Woods, competing at the Junior Invitational at Sage Valley Golf Club, located near Augusta National. Charlie finished last in the field at 26-over par.
