Alicante Hosts Successful Judo Super Cup

Alicante, Spain, served as the epicenter for national judo talent this past weekend, hosting the Isabel Fernández Spanish Judo Super Cup from March 6th to 7th. The event, held at the Pedro Ferrándiz High-Performance Center, drew over 1,200 athletes competing in cadet, junior, and kata divisions.

Navarra Federation Demonstrates Strength

The Navarra Federation of Judo and Associated Sports was represented by eight cadet judokas, securing a silver medal and a 7th-place finish. Individual results included:

  • -50 Kg.: Julen Zuñiga (Irabia)
  • -55 Kg.: Jeremy Pueyo (Navarro de Lucha) – 7th Place
  • -55 kg.: Ilan Perez (Atarrabia)
  • -66 Kg.: Aitor Barraza (Irabia)
  • -66 Kg.: Onai Perez (León Pamplona)
  • -66 Kg.: Oihan Del Burgo (Irabia)
  • -73 Kg.: Luis Kojima (Irabia)
  • +90 Kg.: Izan Bridge (Atarrabia) – Silver

The Navarra Federation also had a strong presence in the officiating team, with four referees – Fco. Javier Nevado, Maria Luis Ardoiz, Irati Diaz, and Nestor Perkaz – contributing to the event’s smooth execution.

The tournament is estimated to have generated an economic impact of nearly one million euros for Alicante, attracting approximately 3,500 visitors. The event was also streamed online and served as a qualifier for the final phase of the Spanish Championship.
