Badminton Tournament Draws Top Spanish Talent to Tordesillas
Tordesillas hosted the conclusion of the ‘Villa del Treaty’ Badminton Tournament last Sunday, an event that has become a significant benchmark in the Spanish sports landscape after twenty-one years. The tournament welcomed over 200 participants, representing clubs from 16 of Spain’s 17 autonomous communities in the under-15 and under-19 categories.
Tournament Highlights and Winners
The municipal pavilion of Tordesillas played host to more than 200 matches across individual, doubles and mixed doubles categories. The tournament served as a scoring event for the National Ranking and as a test for the N3 Youth Master under 15 and under 19.
In the women’s individual sub-15 category, Paula Larrión, representing the Estella de Navarra club, emerged victorious. The men’s category saw Pablo Lloreda, from Rute de Andalucía, claim the top spot. Doubles action saw Cristina Martín (Ciudad de Villalba de Madrid) and Blanca Porras (Rute de Andalucía) win the women’s under-15 doubles, while Nuno Alonso (Bádminton Laguna) and Demetrio Pinto (Zamora) secured first place in the men’s doubles. The under-15 mixed doubles title went to Álvaro González (Ibiza) and Elsa Orenes (Bádminton Las Torres).

The under-19 category saw Polina Prykhodko (Leganés) and Miguel Paya (El Campello de Valencia) win in their respective individual events. Blanca Canton (Club Bádminton Belmecher) and Polina Prykhodko (Leganés) took gold in women’s doubles, while Mateo Fernández (El Campello) and Miguel Paya (El Campello) were victorious in men’s doubles. Félix Sanz (Aspe) and Sara Llopis (Aspe) completed the winners’ list.

He added, In each edition we value that each player, manager, club and referee is happy and eager to return. This year it is worth mentioning that the level has been fantastic, with the best in Spain, underlining Zamora as a Castilian and Leonese club that has been in the final and that makes us feel proud.
