Minnesota Men’s Golf Secures Third Place Finish

BLUFFTON, S.C. – The University of Minnesota men’s golf team delivered a noteworthy performance at the Colleton River Collegiate, tying for third place with Memphis on Monday. This marks the team’s first top-three finish since securing second place at the Gopher Invitational on September 8-9, 2024.

The Golden Gophers completed the tournament with an overall score of 4-under-par, concluding the final round at 3-over-par (291). Kentucky claimed the top spot with a score of 11-under-par.

Key Performances Drive Gophers’ Success

Several Gophers made significant contributions to the team’s success. Sophomore Chun-Ta Wu led the team with a score of 5-under-par (211), matching his season-best finish-to-par score. He secured a career-best fifth-place individual ranking, collecting a team-high 14 birdies throughout the event.

Sophomore Jack Crousore tied for 10th place at 2-under-par (214), achieving his second top-10 finish of the season. He added two birdies in the final round, bringing his two-day total to 13.

Freshman Joe Honsa registered a score of 2-over-par (218), shooting even (72) in the final round with four birdies, finishing in a tie for 33rd place.

Senior Cormac Sharpe finished with a score of 4-over-par (220), collecting two of his seven birdies during the final 18 holes, tying for 44th place.

Senior Jack Wetzel shot 6-over-par (78) during the final round, ending with a score of 8-over-par (224) and tying for 64th place.

Freshman Torger Ohe concluded the tournament with a season-best score of 6-under-par (66), tallying six birdies and zero bogeys, finishing with an overall score of 8-over-par (224) as an individual.

Looking Ahead

The Gophers will next compete in The Johnnie-O on March 9-10 in St. Simons Island, Ga. The tournament will be held at the Sea Island Resort and hosted by Rutgers.
