Local Badminton Club Featured at SCL Tigers Game
The Badminton Club Burgdorf-Jegenstorf (BCBJ) recently had the opportunity to showcase their club during a break in play at an SCL Tigers hockey game, as part of the “Tiger Village – Tigers for the Region” project. The initiative aims to highlight local organizations and businesses within the region.
Addressing a Common Misconception
The BCBJ seized the opportunity to playfully address a recurring sentiment among ice hockey fans. According to sources, the club aimed to challenge the phrase Stop complaining, otherwise you can head to badminton
with a touch of overconfidence and hopelessness
. While the club was selected primarily because badminton hadn’t been previously represented in the “Tiger Village” campaign, the gesture wasn’t lost on the Tigers organization.
Behind-the-Scenes Video Production
To create a realistic presentation, the BCBJ initially planned to film during a regular training session. Yet, a tight timeframe necessitated a quick change of plans. Thanks to the support of the city of Burgdorf, the club secured a gym to film a staged training session.
In a cloak and dagger operation, eight players were brought together and trained in the background. After an hour of sweating (some because of the show training, others because of the challenge of not babbling in front of the camera) the film was in the can.

On the Ice with the Tigers
The BCBJ members were rewarded with tickets to attend the game, where the Tigers faced Ajoie (the Tigers lost 2:3 in overtime). The experience culminated in a walk onto the ice and a photo opportunity in front of the fan curve. The event may have even broadened the horizons of some hockey fans, suggesting that the “Jammeris” can be found elsewhere than in Badminton
.
