Seysses Arts Martiaux Fights Hard at Occitanie Championship
Women’s Team Unclassified, Men’s Team Showcases Resilience
Seysses Arts Martiaux (SAM) traveled to Mèze recently to compete in the Occitanie 1st division cadet team championships, fielding both men’s and women’s teams. While the women’s team faced challenges in the pools, the men’s team displayed exceptional resolve.
Hard-fought losses for the men’s team
Comprising Wael Soukni, Yassine Ben Hellal, Adam Chenine, Gabin Cabassud, Florian Jubéro, Zaki Ourhamane, and Loyd Santos (Sauzelongue), the men’s team started strong, eliminating Condom 5-0 in the round of 16. However, they fell short to Toulouse-Balma 4-1 in the quarter-finals.
The men’s team then entered the repechage, facing defending champions Montpellier Olympique in a thrilling encounter that SAM won 3-2. They went on to secure a narrow 3-2 victory against Aureilhan in the repechage final. In the small final for 3rd place, SAM judo once again concluded 3-2 against Carcassonne.
The road to qualification ends
Despite their remarkable performances, qualification was not achieved. The team’s coach, Eric Diehl, expressed pride in their resilience and the valuable experience gained.
