Series Details and Schedule

The Towson University baseball team opens its 2026 season against Norfolk State in a highly anticipated three-game series at Marty L. Miller Field. The action gets underway on Friday, February 13 at 3 p.m. The series culminates with a doubleheader on Saturday, February 14, with the first game starting at 12:30 p.m.

Scouting the Spartans

Norfolk State, led by first-year head coach M.L. Morgan, enters the series with a 4-38 record from the 2025 season. The Spartans were picked to finish 10th in the 12-team Northeast Conference (NEC) preseason poll, but they boast a talented slugger in Justin Journette. The program’s home run leader and 2025 All-NEC First Team selection, Journette batted .331 with 15 home runs and 45 RBIs last season. He also posted an impressive .645 slugging percentage and a .529 on-base percentage.

CAA Preseason Honors for Tigers

The Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) recently released its 2026 preseason All-CAA baseball team, with two Towson Tigers earning spots. Catcher Brian Heckelman and outfielder Max D’Alessandro were named to the team. Heckelman paced the Black & Gold offense in 2025, batting .365 with 42 RBIs and earning All-CAA first-team honors. D’Alessandro hit .312 with 34 RBIs and nine home runs, earning an All-CAA honorable mention.

League’s Divisional Format and Predicted Order of Finish

For the 2026 season, the CAA has adopted a divisional format in baseball. Towson is placed in the North Division with Hofstra, Monmouth, Northeastern, and Stony Brook. The South Division includes Campbell, Charleston, Elon, North Carolina A&T, UNCW, and William & Mary.

North Division

2025 Season Recap

Towson finished the 2025 season with an overall record of 21-35 and 11-16 in CAA play, just two games shy of qualifying for the CAA Championship. Four Tigers received all-league honors: catcher Brian Heckelman (First Team), pitcher Nate Nabholz (Second Team), outfielder Max D’Alessandro (Honorable Mention), and infielder Oh, Frenchuzenko (All-Rookie).
