Valle d’Aosta-native Nicolò Savona Receives Prestigious Fair Play Award

GRESSAN, Italy — Defender Nicolò Savona, now plying his trade with Nottingham Forest in the Premier League, was honored with the Fair Play award from the Panathlon Club du Val d’Aoste in his hometown of Gressan.

“I was born and raised just a few meters from here, this award means a lot to me,” the footballer told us. “The Premier League is a beautiful championship, but there’s no place like home.”

Savona, who swapped Juventus for Nottingham Forest at the end of August, scored his first Premier League goal in the 2-2 draw with Manchester United. He was greeted by municipal and regional authorities during the ceremony.

The 22-year-old Gressan native shared his experiences in the Premier League. “It’s different from Serie A. There’s more intensity, less focus on tactics, and anything can happen at any moment. Driving on the right wasn’t easy to learn, but I’ve adapted and I’m enjoying my time in Nottingham.”

The Ceremony and the Award

The fair play award ceremony was held in the new hall of the Gressan municipal council, with the Panathlon Club Valle d’Aosta, chaired by Piercarlo Lunardi, curating the initiative. The “Nicolò Savona” award was given to him for his commitment, sportsmanship, and dedication to fair play values.

Savona, who was accompanied by his family, also kindly signed autographs and took selfies with the children at the event.
