Vitoria Set to Host National Senior Badminton Masters

The city of Vitoria once again takes the stage as the capital of badminton, with the Aranalde sports center at the heart of the action. This year’s senior badminton master event promises a record-breaking number of competitors.

  • 200 athletes set to participate over the weekend of September 20-21
  • 108 men and 67 women competing in individual, doubles, and mixed events from 65 clubs across Spain
  • 12 local Alava athletes and 15 from other nationalities representing their clubs

“It’s a matter of great pride for our city to host an event of this magnitude, with the best badminton athletes in the country,” said Ana López de Urcade, the councilor for sports. She also highlighted the intergenerational aspect of the event, with competitors’ ages ranging from 30 to over 65.

The tournament will feature a total of 248 games, with three sets of 21 points each. The event promises excitement as reigning Spanish champions and World Cup participants clash on the court.

  • Action begins Saturday, September 20, at 8:30 AM and continues until 8:30 PM
  • Semifinals and finals will take place on Sunday, September 21, starting at 9:00 AM
  • Medal distribution and trophies presentation scheduled for 1:30 PM
