This clever concept is the brainchild of Dan Abramson, a former editorial director at Netflix and father of two living in Los Angeles.
From War to Peace: The Creation of Yoga Joes
Abramson drew inspiration from his own childhood love for soldier figures, merging them with his passion for yoga. “I wanted a toy that inspires violence to become a bearer of peace and serenity,” he said.
The journey began in 2014 when Abramson, with no prior design experience, spent hours designing and 3D printing prototypes. Encouraged by friends and family, he launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund production. The overwhelming response led to the birth of Yoga Joes.
Introducing Yoga to a New Generation
Yoga Joes comes in various military-inspired characters, each showcasing a unique yoga pose or “asana,” such as “Mountain Pose” and “Warrior II.” The goal is to bring yoga to a wider audience, especially children, in a fun and familiar way.
