Sri Lanka Unveils Powerful Squad for Badminton Asia Regional Championship 2025
Thimphu, Bhutan is set to witness an exciting display of badminton prowess as the Badminton Asia Regional Championship 2025 kicks off today, with Sri Lanka bringing a strong contingent of 12 promising shuttlers to the table. The five-day tournament, organized by the Bhutan Badminton Association under the supervision of Badminton Asia, will see athletes from Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka competing across various age groups and events.
An Impressive Lineup
The Sri Lankan squad comprises six men and six women, poised to compete in Under-23, Under-17, and Under-15 categories across Singles, Doubles, and Mixed Doubles events. Among the notable names are:
- Men’s Team: Olympian Viren Nettasinghe, Thamindu Randula Perera, Ranithu Premaratne, Senuth Sethmina, Keneth Aruggoda, Dumindu Abeywickrama
- Women’s Team: Olympian Ranithma Liyanage, Rashmi Mudalige, Limandi Padma Bandara, Nithini Sasandi Guruge, Vishwani Wanniarachchi, Neethmi Amaya Ratnayake
Experienced Leadership
The team will be led by head coach Hasitha Chanaka, with Amanda Lalindra Weerasinghe serving as the team manager and Hasalika joining as the lady chaperone.
