Guzman Named Regional MVP

Junior Ben Lumsden also had a standout performance with 2 hits and 4 RBI, while freshman Gavin Kelly and junior Logan Sauve each drove in three runs.
Sauve, who homered in the first inning, extended his streak of hitting at least one home run in each regional to three years. He, Guzman, Kirn, and senior Brodie Kresser all earned spots on the Regional All-Tournament Team.
Eight Pitchers Combine for Win
The Mountaineers used eight pitchers on the night, with freshman Benjamin Hudson earning the win. Redshirt senior Griffin Kirn, who threw 7.1 innings in the opener, earned his first save of the season by closing out the ninth inning and recording his 100th strikeout of the year. Junior Cole Fehrman also had a strong outing with three strikeouts in a scoreless seventh inning.

However, Kentucky responded with five runs over the next two innings, taking an 11-7 lead into the eighth. Undeterred, the Mountaineers rallied with two outs, scoring six runs to secure the victory.
