LSU Men’s Tennis Welcomes Back Alum Justin Butsch

In a move that’s sure to energize the LSU Men’s Tennis team, **former Tiger standout Justin Butsch is coming home**. After a successful stint at Texas Women’s Tennis, Butsch will be joining head coach Danny Bryan as the new associate head coach.

Coach Bryan had nothing but praise for Butsch, stating, “I’m fired up to have Justin coming back home to LSU. Justin is one of the best competitors that I’ve ever coached. He played tough, with energy, and with pride for the purple and gold!”

From the Court to the Coaching Box

**

Butsch’s influence in the coaching world isn’t new. In his two years at Texas, he helped guide the Longhorns to an impressive 73-15 overall record and a 28-3 Big 12 record. His tenure also included a National Championship victory in 2022 and two NCAA Quarterfinal appearances, further cementing his credentials.

Proven Leader on and off the Court

**

Butsch’s impact on the court as a Tiger was equally impressive. A four-year letter winner and three-time team captain, he posted 93 singles wins and 76 doubles wins during his LSU career. His leadership earned him several accolades, including SEC All-Freshman team honors in 2014, All-SEC Second Team and LSWA All-Louisiana First Team honors in 2016, and All-Louisiana First team honors and second team All-SEC honors in 2017.

Professional Career and Return to LSU

**

After LSU, Butsch played professionally from 2018-2021, reaching a career-high ATP world ranking of No. 678 in singles and No. 415 in doubles. He also claimed five ITF doubles titles. Now, he returns to Baton Rouge, eager to share his passion and expertise with the next generation of LSU tennis players.
