MADRID – This year marks the launch of Endesa Play, an innovative contest that’s set to shake up the Spanish music scene by combining it with the thrill of the Endesa League of Basketball. With an astounding 441 emerging artists and groups signing up, this event is shaping up to be a huge hit. Learn more about the Endesa League.

By the Numbers: Registrations Across Spain

  • Madrid topped the charts with 205 registrations.
  • Catalonia followed with 76, trailed by Valencia (42), and Andalusia (38).

Music Genres: A Melting Pot of Talent

Genres vary from rock and pop (both with a third of the total), to indie (18%), and others like singer-songwriter, urban, trap, electronics, folk, rap, and reggaeton, each adding their unique flavor.

Legal Bases and Popular Vote

The songs must be original, free of auto-tune, and performed by soloists or groups new to the music scene.

After the registrations, a professional jury will scrutinize each entry and announce the 18 finalists on April 25. From then until May 20, the public will have their say in an online vote hosted on the project’s website.

Winners Take All

The top three acts will perform live at their respective Endesa League team’s pavilion between May 4 and 11, aiming to impress both the fans and the professional jury. The grand prizes include:

  • A slot on the main stage at the Jardín delì‚­icias in Madrid, happening on September 19-20.
  • A chance to perform during the 2024-2025 Endesa League final playoff.
  • A feature in the prestigious Sound World magazine.
