Event Details
Winning Moment Lando Norris caps off a thrilling season-opening Australian Grand Prix, surviving a chaotic finale to secure his first win of 2025.
Leadership McLaren’s mid-season form saw both Norris and Piastri dominate the early stages, pulling over 15 seconds clear of Max Verstappen’s Red Bull. The wild end began with Fernando Alonso’s crash at Turn 6, leading to chaotic twists.
Drama Unfolds After lengthy recovery, the race restarted with 16 laps remaining. Rain caused chaos, leading to dramatic spins and crashes, including Piastri’s spin at Turn 13, temporarily ending his race.
Final Laps Norris dove into pits for intermediates, while Verstappen stayed out on slicks, briefly taking the lead. As the rain intensified, Verstappen too had to pit. The safety car reappeared following crashes by Liam Lawson and Gabriel Bortoleto.
