2024 Ombudsman Awards, a recognition of commitment to children and adolescents in Misiones

The Vice-Government of Misiones, through the Office of the Ombudsman for Children and Adolescents, celebrated the ninth edition of the Ombudsman Awards.

This Wednesday the ninth edition of the Ombudsman Awards, organized by Vice-Government of the Missions. Therefore, women, men, teenagers, adults and organizations are recognized for their various achievements and commitment to promoting rights in the province.

The annual event is held within the framework of the International Day of the Rights of the Child. It seeks to identify those who promote and exercise fundamental rights in the province. The event was attended by children, teenagers, family members and representatives of organizations.

It was led by Vice Governor Lucas Romero Spinelli. When speaking, he mentioned that whenever we talk about childhood we remember the rights. And he added that Adults and the obligations that govern them must be discussed in order to build a province where children and adolescents are protected. and encouraged to fulfill their dreams.

Winners of the 2024 Ombudsman Awards

In this edition, three categories are identified: children and adolescents promoting rights; adults are known for their commitment; and institutions or organizations that work for children and adolescents.

Children and adolescents promoting rights

  • Paloma Gamarra (Posadas): Adapted swimming, Evita Games participant.
  • Mara López (Monte Carlo): Handball, member of the Argentine National Team.
  • Constanza Núñez (Posadas): Judo, highlighted in Pan American tournaments.
  • Paulina Ojeda (Eldorado): Historic record 93 points in a U13 basketball game.
  • René Ignacio Senger (Posadas): BMX Freestyle, with famous international participation.
  • Camila Tello: representative of Argentina in figure skating at the World Skate Roller Games.
  • Lorenzo Vitale (Posadas): Adapted basketball, Evita Games medalist.
  • Luana Vázquez: Adapted athletics, an example of the development of the Evita Games.
  • Woman from Home (anonymous): Fencing, recognized for her efforts from a care device.

  • Luzmila Ávalos (Jardín América): Student at the Hospital School, example of overcoming an illness.
  • Eliana Heck (Colonia Oro Verde): Leader in her community and active collaborator in school activities.
  • Santino Méndez (Itaembé Guazú): The renewable energy project has been promoted internationally.
  • Students from Special School No. 1 and ITEC No. 2 (Posadas): Articulation to make solidarity crutches.

The right to art and culture

  • Lautaro Martel: Young promising dancer, member of the Provincial Ballet.
  • Nazareno Riveros (Puerto Esperanza): Folklore and regional music singer.
  • Santiago Villar (Garuhapé): Freestyler with provincial and national representation.
  • Ailén Abigail Zichan (Almafuerte): Northern Malambo and folklore.

  • Ali-Tás Mohammad Ibrahim Charbel (Itaembé Guazú): Outstanding in sports, music and dance.

Right to a healthy environment

  • Special School No. 4: School garden project as a model of education and food.
  • Elías Pro (Puerto Rico): Participant of the Caminos de Tiza Ambulante School, promoting inclusive education.

Adults and organizations that rely on rights

The Office of the Ombudsman also recognized outstanding figures for their social commitment:

  • Fabián Oudín: Development of public policies for children.
  • dr. Teresa Santonato: Promoter of the Kangaroo Mother program for newborns.
  • Dr. Darío Pokora: Head of SAIC, with important research contributions in favor of children.
  • Maia Gustavino: Director of Adapted Sports in Posadas, which has an impact on sports inclusion.
  • Patricia Zarza: President of TEA Families, reference inclusion.
  • Sacred Heart Children’s Home: Space for holding and comprehensive care for over 43 years.
  • Alicia Wrobel: Representative of the foster care system.
  • Sergio Padula and Ramón “Pocho” Silva: Communicators known for their defense of rights.

Ombudsman Awards, an event that goes beyond

In addition to celebrating individual and collective achievements, The Ombudsman Awards reaffirm Misiones’ commitment to an inclusive development model. The stories of the winners are proof of the positive impact that public policies can have when children’s rights are put first.

The event ended with a message of hope and unity, inviting everyone present to continue working together. As Defender Rossana Franco said: “Women, men and teenagers come first, always. The future of our county and our country rests with them.”

The day ended with an emotional group photo and a lunch to share the fruits of this collective work, laying the foundations for the 2025 Ombudsman Awards.
