Drafted as the 15th pick by the Pistons in 2019, Sekou Doumbouya unfortunately did not find the success he hoped for. Having since returned to Europe, he has however seen his name reappear in the NBA environment in recent hours.
It has definitely not been a good time for French players to go through the ranks of the Pistons in recent years. Besides Evan Fournier, whose last experience NBA was carried out in the franchise, and Killian Hayes, today in the G-League, another Habs encountered big difficulties in Detroit: Sekou Doumbouya. This, even though he arrived there surrounded by great hopes following the 2019 Draft.
Selected in 15th position, the winger from Conakry, Guinea, only stayed two years in Michigan. Involved in several trades, he finally landed at the Lakers without succeeding in establishing himself further. Enough to force him to also go through the G-League box, then to find pleasure in Europe, successively in Roanne and in Andorra. While the Pistons are currently winning a series of victories and even fighting for a place in the playoffs in the East, their fans can logically celebrate. That said, some of them could have done without tackles from behind on Sekou Doumbouya.
