10th medal for Bulgaria from European bars

Tanislav Angelov won Bulgaria’s tenth medal at the European Under-20 and Under-23 Weightlifting Championships in Raczyn, Poland, after finishing third in the 102kg event. The competitor of “Mizia” (Knezha), with personal trainer Vasil Milashki, finished with silver in the throw and bronze in the push.

Angelov made five successful out of a total of six attempts, with which he finished with a fight of 339 kg (155+184). On his debut in this age group, the 18-year-old heavyweight was flawless in the throw, clearing 148, 153 and 155 kg in succession. In this exercise, Angelov was surpassed only by Danilo Chinaikov (Ukraine) with 157 kg.

In the push, Angelov started successfully at 175 kg, then failed to lift 181 kg. On his last appearance on the podium, the Bulgarian showed his capabilities and confidently lifted 184 kg. In the bout, he was overtaken by 1 kg by the silver medalist Tornike Lomtadze (Georgia), who finished with a bout of 340 kg (148+192). Alexander Lazaryan (Armenia) became the champion with 347 kg (154+193), and Ukrainian Chinaikov was fourth with 338 kg (157+181).
